4-day Snowshoe hike in the Kitzbüheler Alps

Have you ever wondered what hiking in winter looks like? We're going to spend 4 days in a winter mountain hut (don't worry, the heating is on and they have food) and we will do a day hike from there every day. We are going to learn more about avalanches and how to avoid them, choosing the most optimal way up and down and really enjoy beautiful scenery.

Kitzbüheler Alps

The Kitzbühler Alps are situated between the Zillertal and Zell am See, in the east of Tyrol. Magnificent summits, but they still feel so accessible.

Difficulty level: beginner

You need absolutely no experience in snowshoe hiking to participate. We will cover everything, from how to walk with snowshoes to avalanche safety, orientation in the snow and much more. A basic fitness level is required (summer hikes up to 600m elevation should be no problem).

Packlist

Snowshoe hiking requires a specific set of gear. You will get a detailed packing list of what to bring, where you can rent it or if you should buy it.

Neue Brandenburger Hütte

Mountain huts are always a safe and cosy space in the mountains. They are already in summer, but being surrounded by snow and sub zero temperatures at night gives them that extra touch. Nothing beats this feeling.

What is included?

A 4-day guided tour with a certified and experienced hiking guide. You get to learn about reading maps and terrain, how to navigate and how to plan your own tour.

Workshops & Photographs

In the evening, we will have a small gathering for some workshops about the different aspects of hiking. We will also have photos taken during the trip, which you will get afterwards in high quality.

  • Accommodation: Traditional alpine mountain hut

  • Sleeping arrangement: Dormitories (upgrades to rooms with 2 of 4 beds can be requested depending on availabilities)
